“About July last year (2010), I started thinking about real estate and how most Kiwis felt about real estate agent fees. Then it dawned on me – Mike Pero Mortgages has been in the background since 1991 - advising and funding homeowners, independently, into their own homes.

Since 1991 we’ve helped over 80,000 homeowners and arranged loans of more than $8 billion. We thought the natural progression would have to be real estate.

So in December last year we asked Colmar Brunton to carry out an independent survey to tell us what Kiwis across our nation were thinking and what they wanted.

As a result of the feedback we just felt compelled to enter the market with an offering that met with the customer expectations.

Clearly the cost to sell real estate had to come down – so while some brands are at 4%+gst (and marketing) we thought we’d cut in at 2.95%+gst (and marketing). And while some deliver a very average service we decided we had to exceed customer expectations.
